Tickets & websites
For all transportation we use the same card in the Netherlands, which you can charge. The card is called ‘ov chip card’ and it’s recommended to get one as soon as possible. The card itself cost €7,50 and on top of that you have to reload the card with money in order to travel. You can reload your card in supermarkets, some shops and stations. Don’t forget: each time you travel you have to check in and check out! If you forget to check out your card will run out of money. In case you couldn’t check out or forgot to, you can try to reclaim your money back here.
For general timetables, updates and maintenance we check www.9292ov.nl (there is an app available) or for up to date train information www.ns.nl (nation wide) and for up to date tram/metro information www.gvb.nl (Amsterdam only, they also have a Twitter account which I recommend to follow, in case you’re at the stop waiting)
